Porchlight

Porchlight works to change people’s lives for the better. On the website there is a link to the 'media centre' this has helped me with the research of homeless people as this gave me insight to how people help others and how these homeless people are actually lonely. The link bellow shows the people of Porchlight telling us about there christmas day helping in hostels. http://www.porchlight.org.uk/media-centre/audio/ Also on the website there is videos of people speaking about how homelessness is getting resolved, peoples stories and several events they have done to help. This is has helped me with my characterisation as i was able to understand someones personal story with them speaking about it instead of on a piece of paper. Also helps me build my narrative because I get more of an insight and more knowledge of the whole issue. http://www.porchlight.org.uk/media-centre/video/

Ross Kemp Extreme World - Drugs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vNLFjMEZFs

This is a documentary which investigates drugs in America.
The documentary has helped me with my radio play because my main focus is on drugs and therefore I have been able to learn a lot more about it and what sort of people use what sort of drugs. Also the documentary has shown how people get hold of the different substances and how and why people will get into them. Also the side effects of drugs when you are addicted to them.

The documentary has helped with my characterisation as I am able to understand the mind of the people on drugs and able to form my characters that will be involved in taking drugs.
It also helps with the content and dialouge as I am able to understand the language they use when talking about drugs and how they act when on drugs, this means when I am writing my script I can make it more realistic and believable.

My Radio Play.

Whilst writing my script I had to make sure what I was doing was correct, I went on the BBC and search how a radio play script would be written.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/arts/features/howtowrite/radio_charc.shtml

This link has allowed me to write script easily as there is guideline given to you, for example when considering my characters, the website says that you should have no more 6 characters in a half hour play. I have made sure that I havent done this because this can confuse the listener with different characters.

Also when editing my play I will be able to look back on this website and look at the advice it tell me when looking at the sound you can use in the play, this helps me whilst writing my script as well because I can place within the script what will go where and what sort of sounds as by using the correct sounds can engage a listener.

Further research on my text.

I have decided to use an issue of drugs within the text, therefore I had to understand what drugs can do to a person, I have found a website where people have wrote their stories about how they have been affected by the use of drugs.
http://www.psychforums.com/drug-addiction/topic10381-20.html

Also the link below is website that tells you the possible reasons people may get into drugs, what sort of drugs are illegal and legal, and different contact numbers to help people with the addiction.
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/YoungPeople/HealthAndRelationships/ConcernedAbout/DG_10030639

Also there is a campaign called 'Talk to Frank' which helps many people with their drug addiction, this has helped many people come out of their addiction and get back to normal life.

On The Streets

On the streets is a documentary that is based on the homeless people in London.
The documentary gives you an insight into how these people live on streets, this helps me because I can base a picture on how people will be acting like and how they will be feeling through the people that are in the documentary. Also the documentary shows how these people got into the situation of being homeless, there are many situations and not just the one that I am choosing, but it does make people more aware of what is going on.
The Documentary also gives an insight to what sort of things can happen whilst being homeless, this is important because in my text I also want to bring up an issue to show that by becoming homeless a person can change and get into things that they may never would of done for example, alcohol, drugs, violence, suicide, theft, and prostitution.
